History of Berkeley Lake Annexation
- On December 15, 2011, the City Council adopted Ordinance O-136-11 which annexed 15 residential properties along Habersham Lane and Bush Road, including the entire Habersham on the River subdivision into the city.
- On December 2, 2011, the City Council adopted Ordinance O-133-11 which annexed 55 non-residential parcels along Peachtree Industrial Boulevard, South Berkeley Lake Road and South Old Peachtree Roads into the city.
- On September 21, 2011, the Governor of Georgia signed a bill into law annexing properties between Peachtree Industrial Blvd and the city limits, on South Berkeley Lake Road, Peachtree Industrial Blvd. and Peachtree Lakes Drive into the city.
- On March 17, 2011, the City Council adopted O-126-11 which annexed the property at 2640 North Berkeley Lake Road into the city.
- The 2030 Comprehensive Plan adopted in September 2008 and revised in February of 2009 includes the following implementation item: “Evaluate and consider annexation of light industrial, commercial and high-value residential property in order to increase the local tax base and to ensure a high level of design is imposed on new development.”
- On November 16, 2006, the City Council adopted Ordinance O-46-06 which annexed the Berkeley Village detention pond parcel using the 100% method. At the time of annexation, the property was rezoned from M-2 to Office and Institutional (O&I).
- On November 3, 2005, the city adopted Ordinance O-29-05 which annexed what was then known as Capitol Commons (renamed to The Commons at Berkeley Lake) using the 100% method. At the time of annexation, the property was rezoned from M-1 to O&I.
- In October of 1992, the city annexed the land that has subsequently been developed as Berkeley Field by passing an ordinance using the annexation of unincorporated islands method.
